Letter to the District Council Delegates, Business Agents, Organizers, and Staff
I do NOT rule by fear, character assassination, public humiliation, threats, intimidation, or bullying people. I do not RULE, I SERVE those whom elected me and the will of the majority of the membership that they represent. I recognize that others may have a better idea and welcome their input, respect their opinions even when they differ from my own. It is NOT my way or the highway as it is now. Life under my leadership will be vastly different from what you are used to now! I was taught to treat others as I would like to be treated and to give respect when it is shown to me. You EARN LOYALTY from your supporters by listening, NOT demanding it! A true leader leads by example and by his service to those whom he represents. I will come into this position with NO AXE TO GRIND against anyone formerly employed by Terry Davis, even those who for whatever reason felt that they had to act out for his favor or were directed to act against me or my local in the past. I want to BUILD, NOT DESTROY the structure that is in place for the good of all our members.
The past is past; look ahead to the future because Terry Davis will be RETIRED very soon after this election. It will happen because of his own arrogant actions against the membership, lack of self-control as was evident at the last UBC Convention, or by his own age!! Do you really want or think that Travis Davis has the intelligence, carpenter experience, maturity, or leadership skills necessary to lead this District Council when Terry is GONE? I do not, nor do I believe that the MAJORITY of the MEMBERS do either. As I looked around the room at the last Council meeting, I saw HATE in the eyes of some, ASTONISHMENT in others, and smelled FEAR throughout the room of how each might survive without incurring the wrath of the powers that be.
Many of YOU have never met me, nor do you really know what and why I have done things over the years that I have served my local or the Council! You’ve been informed WITHOUT PROOF and asked to JUDGE me by a man who likes to say, “If you can’t get to the man, then KICK HIS DOG!” That’s a poor way to JUDGE a man by character assassination and lies, is it NOT? I have never been convicted of ANY offense by this Council or the UBC and that is a FACT! Three things I want you to consider prior to this vote:
1. This is a secret ballot vote – only YOU & GOD will know how you voted! I urge you to do the right thing and vote for a change. I did NOT COME ALONE, do the math.
2. There are only two orders of business, the election and installation of CDC Officers. That means if I am elected, I will be SWORN into office that very day and there can be NO RETRIBUTION by TERRY DAVIS against ANYONE who voted against him because he WON’T have the POWER to do so.
3. As smart as some of YOU believe Terry is, consider this fact: He’s done his BEST and his WORST to destroy LU #1635 and ME for more than 14 YEARS NOW, even bringing the UBC in to assist, but has NEVER gotten the job done! WE REGAINED our Local Charter because WE chose to FIGHT & WON! It is not dumb luck or by chance that I AM HERE NOW! I earned my place as you have yours. HONOR means more to me than life, because WITHOUT honor, LIFE IS NOTHING. Even Terry had to learn this job and I WILL TOO! VOTE FOR CHANGE and HELP ME END the DAVIS FAMILY rein of POWER! RESTORE YOUR HONOR TOO!
